My name is Gus Soto and I’m a workers’ compensation claimant’s attorney in Florida, which means I represent injured workers (not the insurance companies). In 1991, I became board certified in workers’ compensation, which is the highest level of bar recognition an attorney can receive.

In total, I have 36 years of experience as an attorney. As a trial lawyer, I have received special training that has equipped me to represent individuals at trial. I’m an aggressive attorney, and I won’t hesitate to go to court when necessary.

I’m a member of the Gerry Spence National Trial College, which is an elite, invitation-only organization comprised of the top trial lawyers in the country. In addition, I’m a member of Florida Workers’ Advocates, which is the organization comprised of the top workers’ compensation attorneys in the State of Florida.

Early on in my career, I represented insurance companies. As an insurance defense attorney, too often I saw my father when I looked at the claimant and I recognized how absolutely unfair the system was to the average working person. I began feeling more impassioned to represent the rights of the average common person, which compelled me to begin my career representing claimants in 1995.

My.Attorney Explains Work Related Injuries

I decided to write a book on workers’ compensation law because I want to help workers in the State of Florida understand and protect their rights in the event of an injury on the job.

Often, by the time a case comes to the attorney, critical mistakes have occurred due to the injured worker’s lack of knowledge of their rights. Ttis sad truth is intentionally taken advantage of by employers and insurance companies, which only worsens the situation for the injured worker.

I want workers in Florida to be equipped with the information necessary to make intelligent decisions about what to do (and not do), which evidence to obtain, and when to hire a lawyer. Together, this information will safeguard workers against the lies and misrepresentations that all too often occur during the workers’ compensation claims process.
