Make no mistake about it, an entire industry has developed around sex crime prosecutions that employs a lot of police officers, prosecutors, social workers, victim advocates, and counselors, all of which have a vested employment interest in advancing an agenda. The title of this book “The New Witch Hunt, a guide for the accused in sexually based criminal prosecutions” is sure to send the sex abuse industry zealots and crusaders into an immediate fit of rage. They will say: how dare you deny that sexual abuse occurs.
My answer is that I do not deny that sexual assault and especially the sexual abuse of young children is a significant problem in our society. What the zealots and crusaders will not acknowledge however is that false allegations do exist, and that because of the bias held by many of those working in this industry a person is much more likely to be falsely accused and wrongfully convicted of a sexual based offense than any other type of serious crime.
The zealots and crusaders are the police officers, prosecutors, social workers, and victim advocates who any time that an accusation is made immediately believe the accuser and refuse to seriously consider that the allegation could be false. All of their efforts are focused on confirming the allegation and they will ignore exculpatory evidence suggesting the accusation could be false – thus resulting in the Witch Hunt to get their conviction.
