I was reading a bizarre lawyer “war story” earlier.

It involves a child custody case, a Satanic vampire coven, and a fascinating glimpse at how potentials with interesting and, potentially, lucrative cases end up gravitating toward Jacobs & Whitehall clients and their Speak-a-Books.

So, one day, a receptionist at a law firm is sitting at her desk when the phone suddenly rings. She answers: “Thanks for calling. How can I help you?”

The caller is a well-spoken gentleman.

He wants to know if there is a legal precedent for “child custody cases involving Satanic vampire covens”. Apparently, he had just found out that his ex-wife — and the mother of his kid — had recently joined a Satanic vampire cult. He has photographs of her in ceremonial robes drinking blood.

He wants to know if there is anything he can do.

If this is his ticket for getting his child back.

Needless to say, the receptionist was left speechless.

After she mumbled an apology and offered to go ask someone, he said, “Never mind, I’ll go figure it out myself”, and hung up the phone.

I can tell you where he went next.

And the reason I know is because our sister marketing agency, Speakeasy Marketing, manages the websites of more than 300 attorneys — all of whom have online authority platforms — and I’ve seen the kind of search terms potentials type into the internet before landing on our clients’ articles.

This gentleman went straight to Google.

And he typed in something like: “child custody cases involving satanic cults”.

Now, I’ve lost count of the number of divorce and child custody books I’ve helped create. But it is certainly many dozens. And most of these books contain all kinds of crazy anecdotes and bizarre case studies.

One of the things we advise our clients to do is to repurpose their book content into a series of online blogs or articles. (In fact, this is a service we provide as an optional upgrade to our Speak-a-Book program.)

Why?

Because you never know when a potential client with the same (or at least similar) bizarre problem decides to search Google for information.

If you have blogs or articles that mention that problem, there’s a good chance Google will show your page at the top of the results page. Potentials like this gentleman will read it, and then proceed to request a copy of your book.

And the rest, as they say, takes care of itself.

Perhaps these types of bizarre cases hold no interest for you. Maybe you just want vanilla cases. If so, then fair enough. But if you like the idea of attracting interesting cases where there is the potential for you to rack up serious (and well-earned) fees while having a blast, it’s another reason to author a book.

We can help you with that:
