The journey to establishing this firm took big dreams, big faith, and hard work. I was admitted to the Bar in 2003 and I have focused, since that time, on criminal law. I spent almost 10 years as a prosecutor. I spent five years moving up the prosecution ladder, starting with misdemeanors and then moving up to handing serious felonies. After five years, I ended up running the Auto theft task force. When I moved my family to San Diego, I shifted my focus to DUI cases. High-profile DUI cases were a large part of the cases I handled. I saw that there could be a lot of value in learning DUI cases because these cases were very difficult from the prosecution standpoint. I worked with and was counterpart to some of San Diego’s best defense attorneys. There is a great deal one can learn from going up against quality opponents. Out of these battles, I forged a unique approach to DUI defense. I eventually left prosecution and opened my law firm. There is an approach in DUI cases that can yield success and my team set out to implement it.
I have handled thousands of DUI cases since I left the prosecution side. These cases can range from a basic DUI at a checkpoint to very serious felony cases that included attempted murder via a DUI. We handle almost every part of the DUI cases, from start to finish, including the DMV administration hearing.

The first question that needs to be asked is, “Does the person need to retain an attorney?” Truthfully, some do not. The second question is whether I am able to help them. Once these threshold questions are answered, we establish our working goals. This book is for an individual or their loved ones who have been charged with DUI. You must first determine yourselves whether you want to obtain an attorney or not. In many cases, people need a place to start when making this determination. Too often someone’s research yields a collection of contradictory information from Google searches. This book is going to give some direction for those people trying to get the best possible outcome. Furthermore, this book is going to provide framework of the facts. It is not a thesis as to every defense and every aspect of DUI charges; it will give the basics of a DUI. This book might also be useful for a young attorney or an attorney who is handling a DUI case who doesn’t often handle such cases.
